Senior Designer Sean Stanley: Two Clients in 3200

Sean Stanley is currently a senior designer who took it upon himself to do two clients during his 3200 course with me. He seemed intrigued by both clients and each client gave him new design opportunities in totally different ways. Because of his enthusiasm and passion for graphic design Sean was awarded the Graphic Design Scholarship, The Susan Babush Scholarship, at the end of his junior year. This award is given to only one designer per class and it's voted on by the Graphic Design faculty. Sean was given this prestigious award because he was without a doubt, one of the hardest working, most inspired designers I've come across in years. He continues to raise the bar for himself and those around him. You should introduce yourself to Sean. You won't regret it. I'm certain you'll see his creative spark and understand why he is one of the best to move through the graphic design program at GSU. Thanks Sean for letting me share your work.

What's Due Monday January 31st?

-Please bring sketches in progress for your chosen client. Doesn't have to be anything completed but just a work in progress.

-You should have a client at this meeting if possible. You can still make changes to another client if you wish but be aware of the time.

-Once you have your client choice, go ahead and write down several lists of ideas for your client. Just anything that comes to mind. It's word play which will help you later on in your developement.

-Go ahead and do a Mood Board. A Mood Board is when you take your client and think of anything visual that relates to your client and put them on a board or designbook/pad or paper. Images that are related to your client. As much as you want. Colors/found photos/words cut out, etc. anything. It's a visual reminder board. This is known as the "designers cheat sheet" as it gives you quick visual answers about your direction for your client.

-Buzz Words: Go ahead and write down in any order 5-10 words that would relate directly to your client. They should be the strengths of your client.

Working in class on monday again. I'll get to those of you I didn't see on Wednesday.
Keep up the work!

Victory Vintage ReDesign: John Milam (alumni 2010)

Exterior Photos of the Client's store

Some of John's final logo designs after numerous sketches based on research of the client and period he wished to portray. Any other typeface would not have worked with is retro feel. Perfect example of how research produced a beautiful new look for this Decatur furniture store.
