A Case Study of Stationery, Advertisements, Specialty Items

Take a look at this case study of a project created in GrD3200 by Jason Dooley. Jason was an exceptional designer who is now living and working in NYC in motion design.

The Stationery Set:
First was his digital version of his stationery set boarded for critique.Take a look at how he set up his board for the critique. He is showing the front of the letterhead, the front and back of the business cards and then the front of his stationery. If you have more you want to show then you can go to a second board.
Don't try to cram everything on to one board. In Jason's case, he could have possibly put a second sheet of stationery (or shown the back of his letterhead); and he could have shown the back of his envelope if he so wanted to. It wouldn't have been crowded.

Next was his photographed stationery set that he took for his website and portfolio, but you could also present this version as well either in class at the critique or inside your portfolio at the Sophomore Review on Friday April 29th. (I'm not crazy about the marble background he put them on but you get the idea of how you might want to photograph them.)

Next up was his set of three illustrated Advertisements: Jason loved to illustrate and so he composed a set of advertisements that demonstrated his love for exactly that. Plus he wrote the copy which gave them a sense of humor in a serious situation at times. (An animal hospital isn't usually a comical place but his approach was not threatening nor serious...it was more playful using his illustrative style.

Finally, He designed a hand-screened set of fabric toys for the animals as a "give-away" for the clients who came into the animal hospital. Toy chews.
(again, I'm not crazy about the pattern rug he photographed them on but you get the idea.)

Last but no least, he designed a specialty booklet to give to clients who visited the Animal Hospital. It's like a guide to their services at the Hospital. An Illustrated booklet.
