Everything is Advertising
This illustration depicts what you can possibly do with an ad the scale of 3"X11" vertical or horizontal. It doesn't have any type or logo but it allows space in the illustration to place such easily.
When you are designing your ADs for your client, remember that the client is "king" and that you want to stay on message...you also want to be fresh with your idea and imagery. Do you play into the past history of the client or do you update and modernize the client? The client (in the real world) is paying you for a service to develop new ways to attract attention and a clientele. Why would you use Black and White? Why wouldn't you use Black and White? Think about it before you start designing.
Also, as you design, think about where you will put copy and logo. Don't let it be happenstance or accident when you decide to put the type or text into your Ad.
